Frequently Asked Questions

What does “acetoxy” mean? Does it have an odour?

Acetoxy describes the by‑product released as the silicone cures on contact with moisture. A mild vinegar‑like odour will be noticeable during application — this is normal and disappears completely once full cure is complete (approx. 24 hours). Always work in well‑ventilated areas.

Can I use a standard silicone gun?

Yes. The 280 ml cartridge format is 100 % compatible with all standard manual or battery‑powered caulking guns. No special or additional equipment is needed.

How much coverage does one 280 ml cartridge provide?

When applied as a continuous 5 mm bead, a single cartridge covers approximately 11–14 linear metres. One cartridge is typically sufficient for an average bathroom or display case installation.

Will clear silicone yellow or cloud over time?

No. The Selsil formulation is engineered to resist UV degradation and thermal ageing. It maintains its clarity for years — indoors near sunlight or outdoors — without yellowing, hazing, or becoming dull.

How long is the cure time?

Surface dry (tack‑free) typically forms within 10–20 minutes. Allow a full 24 hours for complete cure and maximum waterproof performance. This full cure period is especially critical for joints exposed to water.
